This Summer at Foundry
Foundry College Church students share their favorite memory from this summer.
August 26, 2026Here at Foundry, we’ve had a busy summer! From lake days and outings to baptisms, Bible camps, and prayer walks, this summer was full of a lot of fun and joy in community. As we look back on the summer, we wanted to hear from some of our students, so we asked them, “What was your favorite memory from this summer?”
Summer of Fun
One of the highlights of the summer was our trip to North Star Lodge, our church’s getaway home. Jacob, a rising junior shared,
“My favorite memory from this past summer would be our trip to North Star Lodge. It was fun to go kayaking and play sports with everyone, but my favorite part of that trip was definitely going to Fawn-Doe-Rosa. It was really fun seeing all the animals that are around Minnesota, especially the otters!”
Beyond the kayaking, sports, good food, and cute animals (see below), the trip also gave all of us a special opportunity to bond with one another and get to know some of the mentors who recently moved to Minnesota to help serve with Foundry. It was a chance to spend time together, make memories, and build relationships outside of our usual routines.
Summer of Growth
For many of our students, summer was also a time of spiritual growth and exciting milestones.
Nadia, a rising senior at Foundry, shared that her favorite memory was celebrating her baptism:
“My favorite memory from this summer has gotta be celebrating my baptism with everyone. It was such a blessing to be able to share my testimony with the people I care most about. God has truly blessed me with such a great community!”
We also had the chance to gather as a church and go through a Nehemiah Bible Camp, where we read through the whole book of Nehemiah! For Grace, the camp was something she looked forward to each week:
“My favorite memory was being part of a college church that actively seeks to engage students during summer break. The Nehemiah Bible Camp was a filling time where we gathered in community to study the Bible and engage in different activities afterwards. It gave me something to look forward to every Friday and reminded me to be grateful for my Christ-centered community.”

Summer of Servanthood
This summer, some of our Foundry students also had the opportunity to volunteer at the Acts 2 Network All-Team Retreat (ATR). ATR is a time for mentors from all across our network to come together to fellowship, hear God’s Word, and celebrate all that God has been doing throughout the network. Nick, sophomore, had this to say about the experience:
“ATR volunteering was a nice look at how there really is a big community of like-minded people. I was encouraged by seeing so many people go above and beyond what was needed. Even though I was genuinely tired, I was encouraged by the fact that all these people at ATR are trusting me and my team to take care of their kids and play a part in shaping their future. I kept seeing shirts that said, ‘launching lifelong kingdom workers,’ and seeing people of all ages doing just that made me realize how important it is to serve. Cause how can we launch kingdom workers if there aren’t any workers to begin with? That mindset brought me back to the ERT, where I grew to have the grit to continually serve even though I felt tired, cause I bet we’re all tired. But most of all, how can I rest while my team’s still out there working hard? And if I'm the only one working hard? Well, that has yet to happen!”
We’re so thankful for all that we got to experience together this summer! As we gear up for Welcome Week and the fall semester, we’re looking forward to welcoming new and returning students. Can’t wait to see what the new school year has in store!
